You can order repeat prescriptions which have already been agreed with your doctor, in three different ways:

• Online:click on the link at the top of this page.
• Email: Email the prescription team fmc.scripts@nhs.net Please include in your request: Full Name, Date of Birth, Address, Name of Medication and strength you are requesting Please Note Failure to provide any of the information requested may cause delay in your request.  THIS EMAIL IS ONLY FOR PRESCRIPTION QUERIES, FOR ANY OTHER QUERY PLEASE SUBMIT AN eCONSULT 
• In person: either tick the items on your repeat slip or complete a request form available from reception.
• Pharmacy: you can arrange with your local pharmacy to collect and deliver your regular prescriptions.

Unfortunately our reception team are not permitted to accept requests by telephone.

In urgent situations your request will be passed to a doctor who may contact you by telephone.

Where prescriptions are sent to a local pharmacy, collection time will depend upon the pharmacy involved. Please discuss directly with the pharmacy.

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

• those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
• those who are age exempt
• those with certain medical conditions
• More information is available at NHS Choices

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

• Prescription (per item): £9.35
• 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
• 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.

Prescribing of Over the Counter Medicines is Changing

Your GP, Nurse or Pharmacist will not generally give you a prescription for over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns.

Instead, over the counter medicines are available to buy in a pharmacy or supermarket in your local community.

The team of health professionals at your local pharmacy can offer help and clinical advice to manage minor health concerns and if your symptoms suggest it is more serious, they will ensure you get the care you need.
